There are several variations of Batched Powder Mixing machines, the most commonly seen are these two:
The ribbon mixer is used for general powder mixing. This machine is easy to use and economical. It is often used in the food & agricultural industry for applications such as mixing granulated animal feed, mushroom substrates, flour materials or other granules / powder based material.

Cone Mixers are used for powder mixing applications which are sensitive to heat & contamination. Applications of this machine are mostly found in the food, chemical & pharmaceutical industries.
The advantages for this type of batched powder mixing machine are:
Stirring speed is generally slow so as not to generate a lot of heat & with the least amount of disturbance caused to the material.
The shape of this mixer also allows the batch material to be drained out completely, compared to a Ribbon Mixer, thereby reducing the risk of contamination.
The cleaning process of the mixer is relatively easier.
There is no minimum amount of material that must be entered when the machine is operating.
